Vocabulary is not only the basis of cultivating students' listening,speaking,reading and writing ability,but also the stepping stone of acquiring a language.If there is no basic understanding and mastery of vocabulary,it is almost impossible to learn a language well.Therefore,vocabulary learning should not be underestimated,which is why many teachers now pay much attention to vocabulary teaching.For most students,however,words are difficult to remember and easy to forget.In the traditional vocabulary teaching,teachers only indoctrinate students with vocabulary and ignore the creation of context,which leads students to memorize by rote and not to use it.How to make students master vocabulary to the maximum extent is the key to primary school English teaching.Therefore,I think situational teaching method is especially suitable for primary school English classroom,because it can enable students to really master these words in a short period of time.Compared with the traditional teaching method,the situational teaching method is more vivid.In the process of teaching,it can create some vivid teaching scenes purposefully,so as to help students acquire knowledge and develop skills.Since the introduction of situational teaching method into China,Chinese experts and scholars have also begun to study situational teaching method.Liu Shisheng,a famous professor at Qinghua University,believes that situational teaching method is to create scenes,provide students with a real or semi-real language environment and involve students.It is more comprehensible and acceptable to students.This paper assumes that situational teaching method is helpful for primary school students to master a large number of words quickly and improve the efficiency of vocabulary learning.At the same time,the following questions are discussed:1 Can the introduction of the situational teaching method improve students' interest in English learning?2 Do students have a better command of English vocabulary than before?3 How to implement the situational teaching method to effectively promote students' initiative in English learning?In order to solve these problems effectively and demonstrate the validity of the hypothesis,two classes of Shuangta Town Central Primary School are selected as the experimental objects.The experiment lasts for a period of four months.The first class is the control class,with a total of 45 students,and the second class is the experimental class,with a total of 48 students.During the experiment,theexperimental class adopts situational teaching method to teach English vocabulary,while the control class still adopts the traditional vocabulary teaching method.Before the experiment begins,the same word tests are carried out in each of the two classes.In the course of the experiment,two classes are also tested each month.Oral questions and word quizzes are used.Finally,the experimental results are summarized and analyzed.The experimental study shows that after three months of situational teaching method,the students in the experimental class have obviously improved their interest in vocabulary learning,and the accuracy of the test is getting better and better.On the contrary,the correct rate of vocabulary test of the students in the control class is almost stable,and there is no significant change in their interest in vocabulary learning.It shows that situational teaching method can enhance students' effective absorption of vocabulary.In order to achieve the accuracy of the experiment,the scope of the experimental object can also be expanded in the later stage.
