Kizil Grottoes is the largest Buddhist temple in the world of ancient Kucha,XinJiang is also the most complete preservation of the grottoes.The mural as an important part of the Buddhist art of Qutz,it is worth us to explore research.In the Kizil murals,both the traces of the "trees" can be found in the period of start-up,maturity and decline.Based on this,this article demonstrates the "tree" image in Kizil murals.This article is divided into six chapters,the contents are as follows: The first part mainly introduces the research background of this paper,the current research situation at home and abroad,research methods,research purposes and innovations and shortcomings of the paper.The second part attempts to restore the historical context of the formation of the "tree" by collecting and sorting the existing data,that is,the form of the tree totem in the early works of art to the pattern of trees applied to human society in the middle of history,and then to the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties Through this vein,the "tree" image in the theme religious murals is elicited.The third part reviews the general situation of Kizil Grottoes murals,including cave caves,division of period of grottoes and distribution of murals.The fourth part summarizes and classifies the "tree" image,the mountain style,the water pavilion,the feathered beast and other factors in the first landscape painting of Kizil Grottoes.The fifth part analyzes and classifies the image of "trees",the mountain style,the water of ponds,the birds and beasts in the second landscape painting of Kizil Grottoes.The sixth part mainly analyzes the influence of the "tree" image in the Kizil Grottoes on the "tree" image in the murals of other Grottoes from the west to the east.The seventh part introduces the cultural connotation of the "tree" image in the history of Kizil Grottoes.The eighth part is the conclusion.
