A Study On Foreign Marriage Of Students Studying In Japan In The Late Qing Dynasty And The Early Republic Of China

The phenomenon of foreign marriage is the product of the era of ideological emancipation and the pursuit of freedom.In 1875,Rong Hong and Mary,an American,became husband and wife and created the precedent of intermarriage between China and foreign countries.Since then,cases of intermarriage between China and foreign countries have been common among foreign students.As a young student who also traveled to Japan as an overseas student,he also realized the strong contrast between Japanese women and traditional Chinese women.Unlike Chinese women's conformism,Japanese women's attitude in their communication with the opposite sex is mostly warm and open,so many Japanese students have feelings with Japanese women.But in the face of domestic "parents' orders,matchmaker's words",they have to linger between romance and morality.The marriage between students studying in Japan and Japanese women is romantic and open,but in the face of the contradiction between family tradition and personal emotion,it is a difficult and complicated choice,but the most important factor is personal choice.This paper mainly consists of three parts.It discusses the communication between students studying in Japan and Japanese women,from every aspect to every point,and then to the comments and views on foreign marriage from all walks of life,in order to show this history in an all-round way.In the first part,the author makes a comprehensive exposition of the first sight,communication,love and marriage between the students studying in Japan at the end and Japanese women.From the experience to the different beauty and behavior of Japanese women different from Chinese women,they are surprised and adored,to some foreign students' bad behaviors such as whoring and concubines,and then to the marriage with Japanese women Chinese society has had a huge impact.The second part discusses and analyzes the different experiences of the three Japanese students,GuoMoruo,Yu Dafu and Zhou Zuoren,who have been in Japan,in order to clarify the different personal choices of the three students,which ultimately affect the different outcomes of the three students and Japanese women,and also express the collision between the old habits and free choices in China.In the third part,from the perspective of the government,it is forbidden to intermarry with Japanese students,especially with government-sponsored students,while in the society,there are different views,some people think that intermarriage is to save the country,some people think it is the beginning of breaking the old society and so on.However,in fact,the marriage of students studying in Japan broke the old marriage pattern at that time and brought innovation to Chinese society.
