The Reverberation Of Li Dazhao's Principle Of Historiography In The Field Of Historiography In 1920s-1930s

In the history of the development of Marxist Historiography in China,Principle of Historiography has been regarded as a pioneering work,not only because of the later confirmation,but also mainly because of its extensive and profound academic influence in the Republic of China era.It was written by Li Dazhao when he was teaching in Peking University,which benefited from the attention of the history theory course and the loose academic research environment in History Department of Peking University.Before Principle of Historiography was published,some of the contents of the book were spread in class.At the same time,Li Dazhao gave a speech with the theme of “Introduction to history”in several schools in Shanghai,which roughly constituted the main body of the book.In 1924 and 1926,He Bingsong,the director of History and Geography Department of the Commercial Press,took a positive attitude towards the publication of the book.Since then,some scholars have been paying attention to the theoretical value of Principle of Historiography and began to quote it in their works.Lu Shaoji,Qi Sihe and other scholars have paid early attention to Principle of Historiography.Zheng Hesheng's General theory of Historiography has also quoted it.Huang Weirong's Historiography has left deep traces of Principle of Historiography from chapters to contents.However,in the early stage of the spread of Principle of Historiography,the importance of historical materialism did not seem to get enough attention.This situation has changed since the1930 s.Liu Jingbai emphasized the class attribute of Li Dazhao and his identity of revolutionist,which fully reflected the influence of Marxist history and had the important significance in History of historiography at that time.In the middle and late1930 s,Zhu Qianzhi put forward some criticism on the book,and thought that it had the suspicion of plagiarism.Although there were two voices of acceptance and queryin this period,it was still enough to reflect the Marxist historical theory gradually moved from the edge to the central stage of theory,with the wide spread of historical materialism.
