The Study Of Thought Of Fan Zhong Yan's Confucian Orthodoxy

The zhao song dynasty had just ended the chaos of the fi ve dynasties at the end of the tang dynasty.Fan zhongyan was a famous statesman of the northern song dynasty.During his official career,he act ively participated in the qingli reform and put forward many political Sug gestions,which made great contributions to the political reform and social governance of the northern song dynasty.However,in the concrete meas ures of political reform and the code of conduct,it can be seen that fan zhongyan is also the advocate and practitioner of Confucianism.Fan zhon gyan's thought on Taoism includes many aspects,most of which focus on political reform and national governance.In this paper,fan zhongyan's thoughts on Taoism are divided into thr ee aspects: practicing benevolence and righteousness(governing the world with the sage's way),"respecting the king and dethroning the tyrant",an d "living in sutras leads to greatness".Fan zhongyan regarded benevolenc e and righteousness as the important core of the sage's way and the yard stick of all thoughts and behaviors of the king and the people.Fan zhon gyan was deeply influenced by mencius' thought of benevolence and polit ics,and further developed the political thought of "respecting the king an d dethroning the tyrant".Fan zhongyan deeply realized that Confucian cla ssics had been the books of preaching for thousands of years.He attache d great importance to Confucian classics and put forward that "the doctri ne of doctrine is the basis of the doctrine of Buddhism".Therefore,fan z hongyan in the imperial examination to take officials,recommendation an d education,etc.The content of fan zhongyan's Taoist thought covers a wide range,and most of it is put forward in view of the social disadvant ages at that time,so it has a great guiding role in social governance and political rule in the early song dynasty.In addition,as a politician of th e northern song dynasty,fan zhongyan's Taoist thought was mainly manif ested through political measures,so his Taoist thought was political.Usin g the past for the present and taking its essence,fan zhongyan's Taoist th ought can still be absorbed and used for reference by our modern society,which has modern value.
