Brain Imaging Mechanism Of The Big Five Personalities And Its Relationship With Intelligence

PurposeResting functional magnetic resonance imaging(fmri)was used to examine the relationship between the big five personalities and local regional consistency in healthy adults.At the same time,due to the overlap of corresponding brain areas between personality and intelligence found in previous studies,this paper also used the ENO scale and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence scale to explore the relationship between personality and intelligence from different dimensions.Methods(1)set enrollment criteria,recruit subjects,conduct resting magnetic resonance(mri)scan on subjects in the nuclear magnetic chamber,obtain the brain image data of subjects,and then measure the subjects with scales and number the subjects;(2)after obtaining the nuclear magnetic data and scale data of the subjects,the data of the subjects were sorted out.After eliminating invalid subjects,Matlab software and SPSS20 software were respectively used for statistical analysis of the nuclear magnetic data and scale data.ResultsIn the study of the relationship between the big five personality and ReHo of resting brain,we found that: 1)the areas with positive correlation between extroversion and ReHo value are: the middle temporal gyrus,the temporal pole,the insula,the posterior cingulate gyrus,the medial superior frontal gyrus and the posterior central gyrus.The areas negatively correlated with the ReHo value are the medial and paralateral cingulate gyrus.2)the areas with positive correlation between conscientiousness and ReHo value are: the middle temporal gyrus and the anterior central gyrus;The regions negatively correlated with the ReHo value were: inferior frontal gyrus,temporal pole,superior temporal gyrus,medial and parapenticular gyrus.3)agreeability was positively correlated with ReHo value in the following areas: the middle temporal gyrus,the temporal pole,the rectus gyrus,the superior temporal gyrus,the orbital middle frontal gyrus,the middle occipital gyrus,the anterior cingulate and paracenticular gyrus,and the superior marginal gyrus.The areas negatively correlated with the ReHo value were the fusiform gyrus,inferior temporal gyrus,posterior central gyrus,medial and paralinguinal gyrus.4)the areas with positive correlation between openness and ReHo value are: superior temporal gyrus and thalamus;The brain areas significantly negatively correlated with the ReHo value were found in the angular gyrus,the central anterior gyrus,the dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus,and the medial superior frontal gyrus.Full Intelligence Quotient Verbal Intelligence QuotientIn the study of the relationship between the big five personality and intelligence,we found that the neuroticism dimension of the five factors of the big five personality had a significant correlation with the score of the Performance Intelligence Quotient,and the openness dimension and the agreeableness dimension had a significant correlation with the Full Intelligence Quotient.The plasticity dimension of the big five personality traits was significantly correlated with the scores of the Verbal Intelligence Quotient,while the stability dimension of the big five personality traits was significantly correlated with the scores of the Performance Intelligence Quotient and the Full Intelligence Quotient.In further to the Big Five personality and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for the purpose of correlation analysis found that plasticity dimension scale significantly related with the knowledge that the stability and the block diagram,graphics were significantly related to piece together project,neuroticism was associated with a significant block diagram program,extraversion and openness are associated with a significant knowledge scale,agreeableness was associated with a significant similarity scale.ConclusionIn this paper,using the resting state fMRI detect the big five personality and ReHo related brain regions exist mainly in the frontal lobe,temporal lobe,insula and cingulate area,consistent with previous research,and these brain areas and intelligence of the brain has a certain overlap,so this article on the basis of this and use scale data to study the relationship between big five personality and intelligence,found that verbal intelligence was positively correlated with plasticity,operational intelligence was positively correlated with neuroticism and stability,and total intelligence was positively correlated with openness,agreeableness and stability.This study not only reveals the neurophysiological mechanism related to the big five personality,but also further explores the relationship between personality and intelligence,which enriches the theory of the big five personality.
