Literature translation not only plays the role of language conversion, but also is an important means of cultural communication.Children's literature translation,as one of its branches, has received more and more attention from scholars in recent years.Scholars at home and abroad have done some researches on children's literature translation from different perspectives, such as the study on its history,or the research into the impact of national ideology on it.These studies help us better understand the significance of children's literature translation, and have greatly promoted the development of it.This thesis is an interdisciplinary study of children's literature translation.Specifically, based on the three core concepts of Piaget's theory of children's cognitive development--schema,assimilation,and accommodation, and with The Leftover Kid,a children's novel by Carol Snyder,as the translation material, this paper studies the translation strategies of children's literature under the guidance of the three concepts.Through translation practice,it is found that the problem of schema difference or schema missing between the source text and the target text should be solved by adding footnotes so that children can better understand the source information. In view of the assimilation phenomenon in children's cognitive development,on the premise that the semantics of the source language and the target language are the same or similar,it is suggested to adopt the translation strategy of domestication to make children have a more intuitive understanding of the text. For the accommodation phenomenon in children's cognitive development, when the target language is not equivalent to the source language,it is recommended to adopt the foreignization translation strategy to help children learn and master new information.
