As one of the most outstanding realist figures and painters in the art history since the founding of New China,Zhou Sicong has always expressed the sufferings of the world with a kind heart.Her figure painting,which pays attention to the sufferings and cares for the people,contains the deepest and most sincere feelings of compassion and has undoubtedly become her most representative work.Based on the compassion in Zhou Sicong's ink and wash paintings,this paper summarizes the causes of the formation of Zhou Sicong's artistic style by combining the era background of the reform of Chinese painting in the 20 th century and the direct influence of domestic and foreign painters on Zhou Sicong.It also reveals the profundity and uniqueness of Zhou Sicong's ink and wash paintings,and further probes into the creation and development of contemporary figure paintings.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part describes the background of Zhou Sicong's artistic growth by introducing his family background,teacher relationship and historical background;the second part sums up the artistic expression of compassion style in his works by interpreting his representative works in various stages;the third part mainly analyzes the artistic styles of domestic and foreign painters The fourth part summarizes the influence and Enlightenment of Zhou Sicong's realistic creation on the creation of modern and contemporary figure painting,in order to clarify the depth and uniqueness of Zhou Sicong's artistic style,and then realize the innovative thinking of painting art.
