A Syntactic And Semantic Comparative Study Of Adverbs "Jihu" And "Jianzhi"

Based on the method of semantic grammar and the summary of the predecessors'research results and investigation of large-scale corpus,this thesis describes the syntactic distribution of jihu(??)and jianzhi(??)systematically and accurately,and extracts grammatical meanings summarily and precisely.Besides,through the co-occurrence and exclusion of the components,it compares and proves the syntactic and semantic similarities and differences between them.Firstly,we reviewed the previous researches and obvious debates of jihu(??)and jianzhi(??).The focus of the debate mainly relys on Subclass attribution,core semantics and subjective and objective differences of them.Based on our description,there are defects such as inconspicuous description,inaccurate definition and insufficient verification.Secondly,it is the syntactic distribution of jihu(??)and jianzhi(??)we focus on.In the pairing of sentence type,jihu(??)selects declarative sentences with highly frequencies,occurrence with excluding exclamatory sentences and imperative sentences.Jianzhi(??)appears with exclamatory sentences and declarative sentences with high frequencies,while rejecting imperative sentences.Being a co-occurrence component,jihu(??)requires semantic features of[+bounded][+extremum],comparing of[+high][+subjective][+extreme]of jianzhi(??).Thirdly,we focus on grammatical meaning of jihu(??)and jianzhi(??).Based on four semantic types of the co-occurrence component(quantity close to full space,close to action,close coincidence in time,and very similar in degree),it could be extracts the core semantic meaning of“Approaching an extreme amount”for jihu(??).The four current semantic composition of jianzhi(??)(very high degree,very similar relationship,close result,and extreme ability)could also be described as a core semantic meaning of“close to extreme similarity”.Finally,we compares the main differences between jihu(??)and jianzhi(??)through three dimensions of epistemology,perception and measurement.It is proposed that jihu(??)and jianzhi(??)are differs in the three aspects of objective and subjective,bounded and unbounded,extreme quantity and extreme degree.
