With the rising international exchange, translation plays a pivotal role in cross-cultural communication. However, due to the differences in cultures,it is unavoidable to face conflicts in cross-cultural communication. It is the translator's responsibility and mission to reveal the connotation and implication of Chinese culture.Under this consideration, the author found this article,Humanistic Charm and Spatial Memory of Beijing was deserved to be translated, for it is rich in profound cultural heritage, such as folk customs, ancient Chinese poems, geography, literary quotation, idiom, proverb, etc. This report is divided into two parts: translation of Humanistic Charm and Spatial Memory of Beijing, and specific analysis of difficulties and corresponding translation methods.During translation, the major difficulties lie in following aspects: numerous and complicated CSIs without corresponding translated version in targeted culture,or the lack of cultural connotation. How to convey the Chinese cultural information to foreign readers accurately, concisely and moderately on the basis of ensuring the smoothness of the translation is the top priority to be discussed in depth in this project.Guided by Skopos Theory, this report includes three major difficulties with concrete examples, and six methods are put forward to respectively solve CSIs Related to Ecological Culture,CSIs Related to Religious Culture, and CSIs Related to Social Culture: annotation for CSIs related to animals and plants, transliteration for geographic items, amplification for religious activities, literal translation for religious architecture, paraphrase for social beliefs and moral codes, and substitution for social institutions. With the aim of realizing communicative function to overcome the gap between culture and language, the translated text should enable foreign readers to appreciate the beauty of Beijing, and help Chinese culture “going global”.The author hopes that it can provide practical guidance and usefulreference for the translation of cultural works in the future.
