Procrastination is a complex process that consists of affective, behavioral, and cognitive components. In tradition, it is needless for individual to delay. Procrastination will arouse a negative emotion such as anxiety, pain, and affect people's physical and mental health. Due to hating task, fearing failure or lazing, the individual becomes procrastination. But recently researchers have proposed the existence of an adaptive procrastination. Although the individual is delaying to complete the task, his cognitive efficiency is improving and has a peak experience. This delay behavior doesn't affect the final quality of the work. Adaptive procrastination motivation can cause and maintain the individual adaptive delay behavior. It doesn't effect the completion of the task. On the contrary, it helps individual to complete efficiently under time pressure.Parenting style is a kind of relatively stable behavioral style and behavioral tendencies, which reflects the attitude of parents to their children and their concepts of education. It has a far-reaching impact for the child's intellectual, emotional, social and behavioral development. Studies have shown that parenting style is related to the individual procrastination and procrastination motivation.In this study, from the perspective of positive psychology, the paper researches college students'adaptive procrastination motivation. Through constructing the basic structure of college students'adaptive procrastination motivation, revising adaptive procrastination motivation questionnaire, we try to explore the relationships among college students'procrastination, adaptive procrastination motivation and parenting style and reveal these characteristics. We expect to provide empirical support for related research and educational practice.The conclusions of this study are as follows:1. Undergraduate adaptability procrastination motivation is composed with four dimensions:the preference of time pressure, the seeking for challenges and excitement, the adaptability results of procrastination, and the avoidance of failure.2. The undergraduate adaptability procrastination motivation questionnaire is more credible and effective, which will be available for follow-up study.3. Among the college students, the intensity of the adaptability motivation belongs to middle level. The students who are only child, from the city, ethnic minorities, and senior grade, with high academic record and family satisfaction have higher adaptability motivation of procrastination. And students with medium family economic condition show higher adaptability motivation of procrastination than students with inferior family economic conditions. In the dimension of preference of time pressure, students who are the only child, senior grade, with high academic record show higher preference of time pressure than others, and students with high family satisfaction show more preference of time pressure than students with medium family satisfaction. In the dimension of seeking for challenges and excitement, students who are male, from rural area show more tendencies to seek for challenges and excitement than others, and students with inferior academic record show more tendencies to seek for challenges and excitement than students with medium academic records, and the science&engineering students show more tendencies to seek for challenges and excitement than literature&history students. In the dimension of adaptability results of procrastination, students who are from urban area, senior grade, with high academic records tend to deem their procrastination has no influence on the quality of their tasks. In the dimension of avoidance of failure, students who are male, only child, from urban area, minority, with inferior academic record, major in science&engineering are more likely to procrastinate for the purpose of avoiding failure, and students who are senior grade, with high family satisfaction, with medium family economic condition are unlikely to procrastinate for the purpose of avoiding failure.4. In everyday life,1/8of the college students seriously have procrastinated behavior. And in the group of undergraduate students, the behavior of procrastination is more severe for boys than girls, and for students with an inferior academic record, better family economic conditions than their counterparts. The studies with harmony families are least severe of on the behavior of procrastination. And the science&engineering students are more serious than literature&history students.5. Parenting style can significantly predict college students' procrastination behavior, and the college students' strength of adaptive procrastination motivation is able to moderate this prediction effect, shown in detail as under the condition of high adaptability procrastination motivation maternal caring negatively predicted the behavior of college students'procrastination, and maternal control positively predicted the behavior of college students'procrastination. Under the condition of low adaptability procrastination motivation, paternal control positively predicts the behavior of college students'procrastination.
