Anxiety, motivation and self-efficacy have been three important factors influencing students' second language learning and more and more studies found that the three factors could interplay with each other to influence the final language learning outcome. In interpreting learning, student interpreters play a double role as both second language learner and interpretation learner;hence, apart from second language learning anxiety, student interpreters also suffer from “interpretation anxiety”.Over the past years, interpretation anxiety, interpreting motivation, interpreting self-efficacy and their impact on the interpreting competence of student interpreters have become the research targets in interpreting study. This study sets out to examine the interpretation anxiety, motivation and self-efficacy among 43 MTI students at CFAU,more specifically, the relationship between their interpretation anxiety, interpreting self-efficacy and two variables from the L2 motivational self system, which were, ideal L2 self and ought-to L2 self.Quantitative research method of questionnaire was employed. The results suggest that no significant correlation was found between the students' ideal self and interpretation anxiety as well as between their ought-to self and interpretation anxiety.A significant negative correlation was found between interpreting anxiety and interpreting self-efficacy and a significant positive correlation was found between ideal self on interpreting and self-efficacy.These findings provide implications for both teachers and students in interpretation teaching and learning.
