Interpreters, especially student interpreters, may feel anxious in interpreting activities as a result of the instantaneity and complexity of cognitive tasks, uncertainty of cognitive processing and multi-facet features of the tasks, interpreting anxiety is therefore one important influencing factors of interpreting performance. The analysis of the causes, effects of interpreting anxiety, as well as the summary of the coping strategies, should be of great significance in this sense. Domestic and overseas studies of interpreting anxiety mainly center on the theoretical discussion or experience summary of causes, coping strategies, and its influence on interpreting performance. Nonetheless, as far as the author knows, there is no track study on interpreting anxiety in the whole process of interpreting, and there is no longitudinal study on the changes, causes, and coping strategies of interpreting anxietyThe thesis is a track study on the author's own interpreting anxiety. Based on the relative studies on interpreting anxiety from home and abroad, combined with the three-month interpreting practice in the training course on handmade drawnwork and crocheting techniques for developing countries,2015, this thesis describes the anxiety status of the author in the whole activity and the relevant changes in the state of anxiety. Meanwhile, factors leading to the occurrence and change of interpreting anxiety are analyzed, such as listening competence, cross-cultural awareness, application of interpreting strategies, note-taking ability, physical environment for interpreting, and humanistic environment for interpreting. The thesis then made a summary of the coping strategies of interpreting anxiety following the author's observation and reflections in the interpreting activity, and also on the foundation of previous researches in this field. The thesis quotes authentic corpus from the author's own interpreting experiences to explain causes, effects and coping strategies, and expects to help interpreters, especially student interpreters understand interpreting anxiety comprehensively, so as to reduce the frequency and degree of interpreting anxiety in their practices. References might thus be drawn for MTI teaching, interpreting activities of the students, as well as the relevant studies on interpreting anxiety.
