Gaoping region holds a large number of folk belief inscriptions since the Ming and Qing dynasties,which reflect the close relationship between temples,gods and inscriptions,as well as the process of formation of folk beliefs.The existing folk beliefs such as Shennong Yan Emperor,Cheng Tang,Zhenze Erxian,Ma Shengxian gu and so on reflect their different development course in Gaoping.Through the constant shaping of the people,these deities have gradually transformed into omnipotent gods dominated by Department of the rain,and have formed different belief distribution space under the influence of Gaoping's unique cultural tradition and location factors.The restoration of temples is an important part of folk belief activities,and the restoration of temples is recorded in inscriptions Multiple ways to raise funds for temples.A large number of temple repair inscriptions show that the gentry,businessmen and ordinary people in the grass-roots society have played different roles in repairing the temple,and have shown their strength in the interaction of "state and society ".Compared with the local chronicles,the inscriptions of folk beliefs in Gaoping area reflect the emotional world of the local people more vividly,supplement the deficiency of the local chronicles,and retain a large number of precious documents such as the local price level in the Ding-wu Disaster,which is an important document to explore the local social history of Gaoping and study the regional economic history.
