| Since the reform and opening up in 1978,great changes have taken place in China’s social outlook. One of the significant phenomena is that the number of cities and urban population have gained a substantial increase, and floods of peasants as well as floating people flowed into cities for livelihood.Correspondingly, these immigrant groups are deeply concerned by the society, thus getting carved in many films with specific images. These films put an emphasis on these individuals’ development and survival difficulties in social waves, including dissociation from the mainstream society, lack of identity recognition, loss of right to speak and etc. However, this category of movies are attached to the society and times so tight that the appellation“peasant-worker’ films”became no longer able to cover its connotation and extension. After China entered the period of new urbanization, the peasant-workers got a new name “Urban New Immigrants”.As the youth are the dominating part,no matter in reality or on the screen,it turned to be necessary to conduct a study on the image of urban new immigrant youth in film and television works.Combined with the design of author’s graduation video “New Youth”,this thesis attempts to analyze through three aspects, which are the image characteristics of new immigrant youth in film and television works, the influence of dynamic policies and the collective creation tendency of the intergenerational directors on it,the means of shaping this image.Integrating the theories of sociology, image science and communication science, this thesis studies and analyses the image of the young urban immigrants in the film and television works in light of urbanization and under the background of rapid economic and social development in China. |
