The export of Chinese ceramics began in the Tang Dynasty and reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty,becoming one of the typical representatives of the cultural exchanges between China and the West.Canton glazed porcelain was an export colored glazed porcelain derived from traditional Chinese ceramics in the Qing Dynasty according to the demand of foreign trade market.Its rich decorative patterns and gorgeous colors reflect the diversified styles of Canton glazed porcelain formed under the combination of Chinese and Western cultures.As a typical representative of China's export porcelain in qing Dynasty,Canton glazed porcelain changed its influence on European social art from court to folk,from religion to secular,and played a facilitating role in east-West cultural exchanges.On the other hand,Canton glazed porcelain also absorbed western cultural elements,which had an important influence on the development of China's porcelain industry and the performance of its artistic style.Firstly,this paper introduces the origin,process characteristics and background of export trade of Canton glazed porcelain with the traditional methods of ancient Chinese ceramics research.Based on typology,the paper classifies the decorative patterns of Canton glazed porcelain in accordance with the theme,and presents the differences between the decorative patterns of Canton glazed porcelain in Qing Dynasty and those of traditional Chinese porcelain,as well as the artistic characteristics of the combination of Chinese and western styles.Then,from the perspective of the export market,taking the decorative pattern as an example,the market demand of Canton glazed porcelain exported to Europe,North America,Southeast Asia and Arab Islam was analyzed in depth.Finally,the paper discusses the relationship between the formation of decorative patterns of Canton glazed porcelain and the cultural exchanges between China and the West.With the development of foreign porcelain technology,the trade market of Canton glazed porcelain began to decline in the late Qing Dynasty.But Canton glazed porcelain of the Qing Dynasty realized the integration of Chinese and Western cultures and was the crystallization of the exchange of Chinese and foreign ceramics.
