Medical texts are highly academic,objective and informative.Frequent use of nominalization is an effective strategy to realize these stylistic features,and the major difficulty in translation of such texts lies in nominalization.Conversion of words is a key method to form nominalization,so the essence of translation is to get the word back to the original parts of speech.This thesis will explore into the textual functions and translation methods of nominalization by a thorough metaphor-based analysis of medical texts,so as to offer a reliable perspective to translation practice.
