This thesis, based on the translation practice of Yale University: An Architectural Tour(Chapter 5),intends to explore the translation strategies and techniques of English passive sentences.A total of 66 English passive sentences were extracted from a self-built parallel corpus.Accordingly, the translation strategies of each passive sentence were classified and processed. It is found that English passive sentences are frequently used which showcases different linguistic features from Chinese passive structures.A variety of translation strategies were adopted in translating English passive sentences, among which the most common ones involve translating into Chinese Bei sentences, translating into sentences with other passive markers than Bei,translating into Chinese active sentences and notional passive construction. We are convinced that the translation of English passive sentences is not only restricted by the translator's translation style, but also influenced by a myriad of linguistic factors.
