A Report On The Chinese-english Translation Of Tourism Texts

The Annals of Yueyang Tower selected in this paper belongs to a special kind of literacy local chronicle,which is characterized by scarcity and locality.It has the important value of spreading exotic history,culture and local customs,and has been concerned by Chinese and foreign scholars.As a kind of tourism text,its translation is of far-reaching significance for the dissemination and promotion of local culture,as far as its content and historical value are concerned.This report discusses the authors' pre-translation preparation,translation problems and post-translation reflection.The background,research status and research contents of tourism translation studies are discussed to point out that tourism,as the most dynamic “rising industry” in the global economic industry,will bring huge economic benefits to all countries.As an important medium and platform for cross-cultural communication,translation plays a vital role.However,as for the study of tourism translation,there is still no real systematic translation theory system in the translation field,which is still waiting for scholars to explore and promote.The translation project is discussed from the two aspects: project content and practical significance.The process of the translation project is described from three aspects: preparation before translation,processing in translation and proofreading after translation.The case study of translation is analyzed in detail from three levels: the translation of official titles,the translation of classical Chinese and the translation of the names of places and scenic spots.The translation of official titles,compared with western official functions,is discussed from three aspects: complete equivalence,partial equivalence and incomplete equivalence.Classical Chinese translation is illustrated from three aspects: additional translation,division and the translation of function words.The end of this paper mainly focuses on the problems and shortcomings in the process of translation project,as well as some perception of translation practice.
