This is a translation project report on Information CountermeasureTechniques and Network Security edited by Wei Aiyu and Hong Liang, of whichChapter10Viruses and Malicious Code,written by Brad Griffin, is the source text.This chapter introduces the different types of viruses and malicious code, and thendetails a number of procedures that can be implemented to minimize the threats ofviruses and malicious codes. This article aims to improve the security awareness ofthe computer users and help them to take proper procedures to handle virusincidents. The translation project report consists of four parts: Part One is thetranslation project description, including project background, objectives andsignificance. Part Two is the introduction of the source text, including the maincontents, language characteristics and linguistic features of the source text. PartThree introduces the translation difficulties of the source text and the maintranslation strategies used in the translating process. The difficulties of the sourcetext lie in the translation of the EST terminologies and the translation strategies ofthese EST terminologies include literal translation, free translation, transliterationand zero translation. Part Four concludes with the translation experiences andunsolved problems in the translation project.
