A Report On The Translation Of Metal Mining And The Environment

Metal mining is playing increasingly important role in the process of industrial development.However,metal mining has brought a lot of environmental problems.Translation of materials on science and technology texts of foreign advanced mining technology is vital for China to deal with its environmental problems.Science and technology texts are figured with objective and professional words,aiming to convey the technical knowledge to readers.This report is based on the translation of Metal Mining and the Environment(from chapter 2 to chapter 6).Under the guidance of Yan Fu's faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance,the report discusses specific cases and relevant translation methods according to the features of science and technology texts.In the translation practice,besides the methods of literal translation and transliteration,the free translation method is commonly used,including addition,omission,inversion,and conversion.The purpose of the report is to discuss the translation methods and techniques which can improve the accuracy and objective,as well as can help accord to the conventions of Chinese expression.It is expected that the report can provide some references for translators in the field.
