The Thesis Of Using And Selecting Sentence Pattern On The Front-page Headlines Of Chinese And Thai Newspaper

The research takes China News and Daily News as examples,to discusses the characteristics of sentence patterns of Chinese and Thai headlines.In this research,we will use the method of closed in September to October,2019 for 61 days on the front-page of the news headlines are exhaustive statistics.Besides,this thesis will use Thailand headlines,Thailand China Net,CRI online and Thai China news,four online news channels as the data of translated headlines.This article is applying the combination of syntactic structure analysis and pragmatic rhetoric analysis,qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,and description and interpretation,to discuss the use of sentence patterns and the choice of synonymous sentence patterns in Chinese and Thai front-page headlines.It will also find out the corresponding form of Chinese and Thai headlines and their generality and difference through this comparative study of news headlines in Chinese and Thai.This thesis consists of four parts:The introduction parts expound the research origin,research significance,research content,research method and corpus source.Then This thesis summarizes the current research of headlines in China and Thailand.Chapter 1: From the perspective of syntax,this thesis mainly discusses the characteristics of Chinese and Thai front-page headlines and describes the structural types of the headlines.Then it summarizes and analyzes the proportion of various types in the headlines,and makes a comparative analysis of the sentence types of Chinese and Thai headlines.Chapter 2: From the perspective of rhetoric,this thesis mainly analyzes the selection of the synonymous sentence patterns in front-page headlines of Chinese and Thai.Then according to the description of the headlines,it presents the distribution of the sentence headlines.In addition,it makes a comparative analysis of the selection of the synonymous sentence patterns in Chinese and Thai headlines.Chapter 3: This thesis makes an explanation of the differences.Firstly,it analyzes the corresponding relationship of different sentence patterns in news headlines of Chinese and Thai.Secondly,it analyzes the difference of information structure reflected by sentence pattern.The study found out that in terms of grammatical level,Chinese news headlines and Thai news headlines have the same common characteristics.That is most headings are the subject-predicate headings in single simple sentence and the non-subject-predicate headings in Chinese are often used in the form of positive phrases.However,Thai headlines are often used in the form of verb-object phrases.Secondly,from the rhetorical level,whether it is China newspaper or Thai newspaper,their basic concepts of making news headlines are the same.That is,common sentences' headlines are commonly used because it is easy to understand for all of readers.Besides,short sentence's headlines are often used because of simple and vividness.What's more,active sentence's headlines are usually used because it requires strong,sturdy and forceful expressions.In addition,positive sentence's headlines are often used because of accurate and straightforward expressions.From the perspective of the different corresponding relationship between Chinese and Thai headline's sentence patterns,there are some differences in sentence structure between Chinese and Thai that reflect the differences in information structure.We can explain that the information structure affects syntactic structure.Therefore,the difference of information structure can be used as the reason to explain the difference of headline structure between Chinese and Thai.In this study,we are able to understand more about the characteristics of news headlines in Chinese and Thai,then able to understand the sentence types and the sentence selection of Chinese and Thai news headlines,which can help us learn the grammatical and rhetorical features of both Chinese and Thai languages.
