Russian-Chinese relations have been continuously developing for many years.Two countries cooperate in many areas such as economics,politics,education,medicine and so on.In this way,the interest in the Chinese language as an instrument of intercultural communication and demand for qualified personnel with knowledge of the Chinese language has significantly increased in the Russian labor market.Knowledge of Chinese along with English is becoming one of the most important competencies of the 21 st century.In addition,more and more Russians are genuinely interested in the culture of China,they eager to learn more about China,but it cannot be done without a strong knowledge of the language.Thus,the topic of teaching the Chinese language in Russia deserves special attention.The teaching of the Chinese language in Russia has been successfully conducted since the beginning of the 19 th century when the first school for Chinese translators was opened.Currently,learning Chinese in Russia is available to anyone.Chinese is taught at Confucius Institutes,Confucius Classes,universities,colleges,public and private schools.Now in Russia,there are 21 Confucius Institute and the Confucius Institute at NSTU was awarded as one of the 30 best Confucius Institutes in the world in 2010,as well as one of the largest Confucius Institutes in the Siberian region.This paper is devoted to the study of teaching the Chinese language at the Confucius Institute at NSTU.Research and analysis of these aspects allow us to understand the current situation of teaching and can contribute to its further development.First of all,this paper describes related research background,the main purpose and methodology of this paper.The study also contains general information about Confucius Institute,such as students grouping,proposed Chinese courses and cultural activities.Then,there are presented and analyzed research results,which are divided into 6aspects: student information,including their motivation level,interest in learningChinese,etc.,textbooks,teaching methods,class schedules,and teacher information.Presented information are also supplemented by teachers answers on interview.Finally,there are discussed the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese teaching,based on research results and interview,also there are some suggestions and recommendations on solving of present problems.
