The practice report is based on the translation practice of the travel text,Island of The Lost,which tells a series of things that a group of people suffered in the process of sail.Travel text features both literariness and truthfulness,and the source text represents its literariness by using rhetorical devices and expressions with implied meanings frequently.Because of the different thinking modes and means of expressions between Chinese and the West,the difficult point of this report becomes the representation of literariness.According to the text,the difficulties in translation of this report include the translation of rhetorical devices and the implied meaning.The former refers to alliteration and rhyme,and parallelism;while the latter divide into situational context and linguistic context on the basis of the theory of context.Meanwhile,the translation strategy of domestication,translation methods including literal translation and free translation and translation techniques including addition and shift are used to show the literariness in the process of translation.The translator has deepened the understanding of travel texts and enhanced the ability of translation obviously.It is expected that the report can offer some help for other learners who are working on the text of the same type.
