| Based on the theory of cognitive load theory,this experiment explores the impact of Chinese-English bilingual conversion training on the interpreting performance of student interpreters,and summarizes the reasons for the impact.This study uses experimental teaching methods.Through pre-experiment test,30 experimental subjects were selected from 47 junior student interpreters,of which15 were in the experimental group and 15 were in the control group.The experimental group was conducted for six weeks for Chinese-English bilingual conversion training experiment.After the experiment,both group will conduct post test.The experiment results are committed to solving the following research questions:(1)Does the Chinese-English bilingual conversion training have an impact on the interpreting speed of student interpreters?(2)Does the Chinese-English bilingual conversion training have an impact on the performance of student interpreters’ topic-related interpreting?(3)Why does the Chinese-English bilingual conversion training have an impact on the performance of interpreters’ topic-related interpreting?The experimental results show that: Firstly,the bilingual conversion training has a positive impact on the student interpreters’ term interpreting speed.Secondly,Chinese-English bilingual conversion training also has a positive impact on student interpreters’ performances related to the topic.Finally,the reasons for this impact are:on the one hand,Chinese-English bilingual conversion training has accelerated the conversion of topic-related terms,reduced the working memory load on interpreters during the interpreting process of these terms,and improved the interpreting performance of student interpreters;On the other hand,in the process of bilingual conversion training,the student interpreters not only improved the conversion speed,but also improved their accuracy.Therefore,interpreters’ topic-related interpreting performance was improved to a certain extent.The author designed this experiment to explore the impact of Chinese-English bilingual conversion training on the interpreting performance of student interpreters,and explored the reasons affecting the interpreting performance,and made up for the lack of research in this field.At the same time,the author hopes that this article can be referred for future interpreting practice and interpreting teaching. |
