Speed ??Skating World Cup Accompanied By Interpreting Practice Report

This is a report on English to Chinese consecutive interpreting.The report mainly describes a consective interpreting task that the author mainly deals with the English of speed skating which Andrew Pickering trains for three employees from Harbin office.The author reviews the whole interpreting process including preparation,case study and conclusion.The author analyzes the interpretation of terminology of speed skating and stratergies of dealing with long sentences and passive voice.The appendix is also attached in the end of the thesis.By the description and the case study of the task,the following conclusions have been made: well-preparation before the task is crucial to the interpreter;during the task,it is workable for the author to use the interpreting strategies of deverbalization,adjusting construction of the target language,literal translation,free translation,annotation,interpreting source language to active sentences in Chinese form,interpreting source language to active sentences both in Chinese form and meaning and amplication technique to solve the above problems respectively,so that both the literal meaning and the implication could be understood accurately;the interpreter also should develop strong psychological quality for the interpreting task.
