Being In Dilemmas: A Study On The Organization Of Jiao Festival In A Village In Southern Hebei Province

Conflict is pervasive in society.From the perspective of conflict,this paper focuses on the operation of the Jiao Festival in Shuang,a village in southern Hebei province.The organization of Jiao Festival in Shuang village,has internal conflicts,which are manifested in conflicts or disputes in the aspects of interests,concepts and authority.During the Jiao Festival in Shuang village,theft of property triggered distrust among members.Moreover,Meng conjurator was a very important member of the organization of the Jiao Festival,because the group represented by him was in conflict with other members,which led to the change of the header.The lack of reciprocity between Meng and other conjurators magnifies the differences represented by factions.Believers are also affected.The organizations also face external conflicts,including conflicts between the external environment and other organizations.The existence space of the Jiao Festival is squeezed by institutionalized religion,and the potential conflict of interest of other folk belief organizations will bring external troubles to it.In Shuang village the internal and external conflicts not only make the ritual of the Jiao Festival incomplete,but also make it more incomplete due to the decrease of villagers' participation.The anatomy of the living space of the Jiao Festival will help us to understand the internal and external conflicts of it and the participation of believers.The Jiao Festival organization is a popular folk belief organization in southern hebei province,and the Shuang village Jiao Festival exists in flat area village.The Shuang village Jiao Festival was originally a complex of village temple belief,ancestral belief and immortals belief in the family.When the Jiao Festival is incomplete due to conflicts,various folk beliefs in the village can replace some of the functions of the Jiao Festival and make it even more incomplete.In Shuang village Jiao Festival the internal and external difficulties were mainly caused by the conflict of interest.Thus it can be seen that in the current society,villagers' pursuit of interests makes religion or folk belief more and more secularized,and some traditional organizations tend to disintegrate.However,it can also be predicted from the operation of the Jiao Festival and the actions of the villagers that it will find a new balance from the disorder.
