Study Of Tibetan Buddhist Monastry In City

There are three existing Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries in Xining city-Dafo Monastry Hongjue Monastry and Jinta Monastry.The three Monasteries are located in the center of Xining city,at the position of a big cross.They have undertaken the faith sustenance of Tibetan,Han,Tu and Mongolian people in Xining city and its surrounding areas.With the development of the times,it has been endowed with new functions.Historically,Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Xining city were important religious sites linking the central government and the western minority.Now,Tibetan Buddhist monasteries are promoting the harmonious development of society.However,as for the history of the three monasteries,former researchers almost did little,and the monks in the monasteries know very little about it.Master Tsongkhapa of the Ming Dynasty founded Gelug,With the support of the Ming Rmpire,Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries developed rapidly in Hehuang Valley.Monasteries started to decline since the Qing court's crackdown on the rise of LuobuZangdanjin.Incident led to the large-scale destruction of which were forced to close in the 1960 s and 1970 s.The three monasteries in Xining city were frequently devastated in turmoil and declined inevitably,They haven their own destinies.The three monasteries have been renovated many times in history.and finally they are shown in front of us in their present appearance.Because they are in the city their cultural and tourism functions are more prominent,but their religious function are weaker.Compared with Hongjue Monastry,the Dafo Monastry and the Jinta Monastry are both smaller in scale,both in terms of construction scale and number of monks.At the same time,none of the three monasteries have the educational function of traditional monasteries,and only the Dafo Monastry holds simple Buddhist activities.Among them,Jinta Monastry as the only subordinate monastry of Kumbum Monastry located in the city.There are few monks in the monastry and no Buddhist activities.Only Believerss burn incense and worship Buddha.This paper is divided into four parts from the structure: The first part is an introduction,mainly describing the research background,research methods andtheories,and the research status.The second part elaborates the development of Tibetan Buddhism in Xining city,the historical development of the three Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and the important figures related to the establishment and development of monasteries.The third part through methods like ethnological field workand observation,with the aim of studies the current situation of monastry architecture,buddhist activities,monks and believers.The fourth part discusses the similarities and differences of the three monasteries with the method of comparative study.At the same time,it also discusses the difficulties and limitations faced by the monasteries in the process of development.In view of the problems such as the small scale of the monasteries,the low popularity and the monks' lack of qualifications for studying Buddhism.Finally,by focusing on these issues,I put forward some practical advice and suggestions,hoping to contribute to the existence and development of the three monasteries in xining city.
