Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry located in the Jingning Village,Gangou Township,Minhe Hui and Monguor Autonomous County,is a historic Tibetan Buddhist monastry of Gelug school.Because of its special geographical features such as multi-ethnicity in eastern QingHai area and being the border between Han and Tibetan,Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, becomes an important medium of communication and contact between Tibetan,Han and Monguor people, which especially makes it unique and attractive. As for the history of Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, former researchers almost did little. The Monastry was established in the early Ming Dynasty. With the support of the Ming Empire,it developed rapidly and became one of the most important Gelug monastrys in the HehuangValley.Since the Qing Dynasty,Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry was frequently devastated in turmoil and declined inevitably.Nowadays there are less than 10 monks in the monastry, whose future remains in doubt. There is no doubt that the establishment, development, prosperity and decline of the Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry have a very close relationship with the policies adopted by successive central governments.By analyzing Han,Tibetan and Manchu documents and other historical materials with documentation method, one of the main purpose of this dissertation is to clarify the history of the Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry,so that people can not only understand the process of its establishment and development, but also the reason why it has been declined now.On this basis,I will explore the advantages and disadvantages of the political, military, religious and other policies in the QingHai area adopted by central governments.Another important point of the dissertation is by using anthropological methods such as field work to interpret the general situation of Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, which mainly includes two aspects.First, the introduction of the monastry, which means to interpret the monastry buildings, the management system, the economic situation and the specific situation of monks.Secondly,to focus on the religious activities in Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, including daily religious activities, important religious activities and its interaction with believers and other monastrys. In addition,I will also point out some problems in the development of Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, such as the shortage of monks, the poor management, and the lack of religious piety. Finally,by focusing on these issues,I will put forward some practical advice and suggestions, hoping to contribute to the existence and development of the Khwa-da`i-kha`i Tibetan Buddhist Monastry.
