As a branch of figure painting,portraiture has a long history in the history of Chinese and western painting,and has formed its own unique artistic appearance,leaving many painting theories and masterpieces.With the development of figure painting,portraiture had an independent division by the Ming and qing dynasties.In addition,the demand for meticulous figure painting among the people increased.With the support of the royal court,the meticulous portrait painting in the Ming and qing dynasties developed rapidly.The development and prosperity of meticulous portrait painting in the Ming and qing dynasties is inseparable from the social and economic development and the continuation of tradition at that time.In addition,with the continuous introduction of western paintings,it brings new visual experience to Chinese painting.Under this special historical condition,Chinese portraiture has achieved a new development.Among them,the most noteworthy is the western missionary painters in the qing dynasty court made a series of innovative painting activities.In order to serve the political needs,they needed to begin to explore the new style of painting,which was required not only to be associated with the tradition,but also to adapt to the social aesthetic requirements of the time.In their hands,the birth of a fusion of Chinese and western methods of a new painting form-the court portrait oil painting.The reason for this "fusion" is not so much to cater to the aesthetic needs of the viewer as to cater to the performance of the ruler.At this time,the royal portrait painting in the qing dynasty,also under the influence of western painting,began a new development.As the forerunner of the fusion of Chinese and western art,the oil painting of the palace portrait and the fine brushwork of the palace portrait in the qing dynasty brought a series of reform and innovation activities,which was a great turning point in the history of Chinese painting.Based on the study of the comparison between oil painting portrait of the qing court and the traditional painting of the court portrait,this paper systematically sorts out the relevant historical documents and representative works,so as to understand the similarities and differences between Chinese and western cultures,and provide atheoretical reference for painting and practice in today's China.By means of image analysis and literature research,this paper analyzes the existing oil paintings of qing court portraits and the representative works of qing court portraits with examples,including the comparative demonstration of the materials,techniques,style characteristics and aesthetic concepts contained in the works.This paper tries to make a deep analysis of the artistic forms of the qing dynasty's royal portrait oil painting and the royal portrait painting,and make clear the aesthetic differences between the western oil painting and the traditional Chinese traditional painting,and analyze the historical background of this style.It aims to enrich and improve the forms and process of the development and evolution of Chinese portraiture with these innovative comparative research results,so as to promote the development of academic research on fine arts at the theoretical and practical levels and make unique contributions to the communication between Chinese and western fine arts.
