The artillery fire of the Opium War in 1840 has knocked on the door of China,and various Western ideas,cultures and arts,including Western music,have poured into China,which strongly impacted the ancient country's millenniurn tradition.Especially since the "May 4th" Movement,discussions on the relationship between Chinese and Western music and the development direction of Chinese music have become one of the major issues that have attracted widespread attention in China's modern and contemporary music circles.In particular,the spread of western classic music and art,such as opera and symphony,has further promoted the change and development of Chinese music.Born on the Sino-Rnssian border Aaron Avshalomov,who lived an arduous and turbulent life,has spent an important time in China He is committed to creating and developing Chinese music,and his dnal cultural background,both Chinese and Western,and his long-term life in China have profoundly affected his music practice and artistic conception.Many of his worrks were originated from China,exerting a groundbraking impact on Chinese music."Phoenix"(also Feng-huang Nie-pan in Chinese)is one of Aaron Avshalomov's many works with Chinese characteristics,which is relatively rare to use drama poems as script-It is derived from Guo Moruo's drama poems of the same name "Nirvana of Phoenix".The work basically retains the structure and content of Guo Moruo's drama poems The entire work presents a creative feature similar to that of poems,and some of its images are highlighted in the form of music.In the form of creation,it takes the form of western opera,and uses a combination of expressions such as opera and symphony poetry.It expresses a uniqueness in the genre and style of music.The music structure adopts a segmented structure,which is created through the leading motive technique.In dealing with music and drama,the composer,based on the structure of the script of the drama highlights the dramatic conflicts between the conflicts of life and death,and the conflicts of phoenixes(both male Teng" and female"Huang")and their surroundings.In addition,the composer played multiple roles in opera creation and drama writing,which eventually formed a work that is distinguished from both western opera and Chinese traditional opera This work holds a unique position and embraces great significance in modern and contemporary Chinese music as well as the history of Chinese musical creaton.The piano accompamiment part was first rehearsed at the garden tea party held by the Chinese Musical Society in 1946,and has not been officially performed since.Thns article summarizes the life,creative situation and creative logic of Aaron Avshalomov,along with the background of the musical "Phoenix".The paper also performs a comprehensive analysis of the dramatic and musical structure of the work,including two parts:drama and music.By thoroughly exploring the musical in all-round aspects such as the script,music motivation,dramatic image,music harmony language and texture structure,this paper aims to expound on the contemporary significance and modern inspiration of the musical "Phoenix".
