An Analysis On The Musical Features And Performance Of The Edward Elgar "Violin And Piano Sonata, Op.82"

As a key figure of the "Revival of the English Music",Elgar combined the traditional European musical language and English elements together and mixed the vocabulary of his contemporaries to his music to create his own musical lexicon.He brought English music to a new level by himself,and was proclaimed by people as the’ English Beethoven".This article chooses the violin sonata by him as an example and analyzing the characteristics and deep structure of his musical language as a method to show his compositional style.From author’s own experience,the article provides strategies and suggestions for understanding Elgar’s musical style and techniques of violin playing in this piece,hoping to provide some ideas and inspiration for other performers.
