Red Sorghum is one of Mo Yan's best known novels and one of the most representative folk literature in contemporary China.The dialogue of the characters in the novel,brimmed with folk languages,boasts exotic flavor to a large extent.This paper,focusing on the translation of terms of address,vulgar language and idioms in Goldblatt's English translation of Red Sorghum,analyzes Goldblatt's translation strategies and underlying principles with a hope to offer insights on the effective ways for the dissemination of Chinese culture overseas. |
