A Review Of Aesthetic Issues Related To Western New Musicology

Since the 1980 s,western new musicology research has formed an important academic trend.New perspectives,interdisciplinary,cultural perspectives,and critical theories have become the main tendencies of new musicology research.Compared with the empirical research of traditional musicology,new musicology is based on contemporary musicology with its important interpretation attitude.This article takes neo-musicology as the research object,aims at reviewing the development of neo-musicology,reviewing the aesthetic issues related to neo-musicology,and deriving the enlightenment of neo-musicology methodology to music aesthetics.This article is divided into three chapters: the traceability and development of new musicology,the study of related aesthetic issues,and the inspiration of new musicology methodology to music aesthetics.The first chapter starts from the theoretical sources and characteristics of new musicology,focuses on sorting out the basic characteristics of new musicology,and then compares it with traditional musicology to clarify the differences between the two.The second chapter starts with the three core issues in music aesthetics: self-discipline and other disciplines,form and content,meaning and interpretation,and discusses the concrete manifestation of these three pairs of categories in the new musicology.Theories are reviewed theoretically;the third chapter draws the enlightenment of the new musicology methodology to music aesthetics,and discusses them from two aspects of criticality and pluralism.In the conclusion part,the significance and value of the new musicology are summarized,and the questions and prospects for subsequent research are put forward.
