A Chinese Translation Of Musicology And Performance And Its Review

"Musicology and Performance " is a collection of essays by Paul Henry Lang, which have not been included in other collections of his works. This collection also includes some chapters of a book about the performance practices which he intended to write later in his life. There are 250 pages in this collection. Its Chinese translation has about 200,000 Chinese characters. The book is divided into four chapters. In Chapter One " Musicology" , he put forwards his in depth views about the construction of musicology. In Chapter Two "New Thoughts on Classic Music", he makes smart remarks after contemplating on the classical music. In Chapter Three "Music Civilization in 20th Century" , he treats music of the past and present equally, and successfully demonstrates the broad cultural background of the music of the 20th century. In Chapter Four "Performance Practice", he presents his academic achievement done in his later years.As a translator, I did some in depth review of the book three aspects. Part One is my overall remark of Paul Henry Long's academic research. Part Two is my analysis of the four chapters of the book. In Part Three, I discuss what I have learned from the book as a translator.
