The Research On Gu Zhi's Revised Annotations Of Tao Yuanming's Poetry

Mr.Gu Zhi is the first scholar to annotate Tao Yuanming's poetry comprehensively in the modern academic history.He has made outstanding contributions to Tao Yuanming's age and annotation.Gu Zhi has made three revisions to Revised Annotations of Tao Yuanming's Poetry.By annalyzing the Collation Notes that Guzhi made for Tao's poetry,we can known that the text of Revised Annotations of Tao Yuanming's Poetry is mainly based on the versions of Tao Shu and Tang Wenqing,which is block printing by Wu Qian's Baijing Building.As holding doubts about the historical records and predecessors' opinions,refering to Wu Rulun's “idea of 51 years old " and Liang Qichao's “ idea of 59 years old",Gu Zhi wrote The Chronicle of Tao Jingjie' s Life,and put forward "idea of 52 years old".Based on of Tang Han's and Tao Shu's research,Gu Zhi put forward some new interpretations when annotating Tao's Shujiu and other poems,such as interpreting "Xiling" as "Ku lun".But there are obvious defects,for example,his identification of the different texts of "Siling" and "Bunian" has no enough arguments,and the understanding of poetry is also somewhat farfetched and circuitous.The main method of Guzhi's annotations on Tao's poems is to interpret poetry by refering to the history,which is embodied in the following aspects: Mining Tao's "loyalty and anger" thought,combining annotation with the chronicle of Tao' s Life,and concreting the abstract meaning of poems.In addition,Gu Zhi's annotation on Tao's poems pays attention to the source of allusions and phrases.It interprets Tao by referring to his own poems and life,to the times and to Zhuangzi.Guzhi's annotation has a great influence on the later scholar,such as Ding Fubao,Wang Shumin,Yuan Xingpei,Gong bin etc.,and can not be ignored by the research on Tao Yuanming.The diversity of Tao's poetry annotation is caused by three factors: the background of poetry creation,the text of the poetry and the acceptance of poetry.Tao's poetry is not only about Jin and Song Dynasty,but also reflects the idea realm of literati,which makes the poetry eternal beyond times.We should annotate Tao's poetry in many ways and from different aspects.
