The Translation Of Attitude Resources In Argumentative Texts

This translation report,based on the fourth and fifth chapters of the argumentative text The Transnationalized Social Question,summarizes corresponding solutions to solve the problems encountered in the process of translation.The source text is characterized by clear argument,rigorous logic,formality and objective statements,and also reflects the author’s clear attitude towards various values and stances.How to faithfully express the author’s attitude and intention,how to accurately reproduce the meaning of attitude in the original text,and how to take the writing style of original text into consideration become a challenge to this translation practice.Through annotation,summary and analysis of the attitude resources(mainly vocabularies and phrases)in the source language,the writer,based on the framework of evaluation system,classifies the attitude resources in the source text into two categories: explicit attitude resources and implicit attitude resources.The writer mainly adopts free translation method and some translation techniques,such as conversion of speech,syntactical readjustment,extension and addition to translate above attitude resources.Through this translation practice report,the writer,with typical examples,offers some corresponding solutions to the translation of attitude resources in argumentative texts for relevant texts.
