Semiology Analysis Of The Chinese Elements In "The Big Bang Theory"

The popular American TV series "The Big Bang Theory" has received more than50 Emmy nominations in recent years,and won many international television awards.The TV series,Which is popular in the United States,are considered as one of the signs of American mass culture.There are many other Chinese elements in the TV series drawing people's attention.However,Ordinary Chinese citizens think these Chinese elements do not conform to own understanding,and deviations and stereotyped image exist in the TV series.After analysis,Writer will mainly use text analysis research methods,Combining Semiotics,Frame Theory and other theories.I will paying more attention to the analysis of " what are the Chinese elements ","Chinese element's semiotic meaning" and " the Varied reason of Chinese Elements ".In my opinion,These Chinese elements presented in "The Big Bang Theory" is not just a simple plot need,The Chinese image behind semiotic meaning is contradictory and complicated.Americans are ambivalent about the developing China.on the one hand,They construct many positive meanings to the image of Chinese people and Chinese food.and on the other hand,They have misunderstandings about China's political system and Chinese economy.The misunderstanding has both objective misunderstanding and subjective exaggeration.There are five chapters in the article.The first chapter is an analysis of the evolution process of Chinese elements in American TV series,mainly sorting out the development history,genre classification,communication platform and the construction process of Chinese elements in American films and TV series.The second chapter analyzes the narrative content of “The Big Bang Theory”,and Statistics the numberof the Chinese elements;The third Chapter is one of the most important part in the paper,it defines the concept of "Chinese elements" and analyzes the Chinese appearing in the TV series.The fourth Chapter mainly analyzes the semiotics of other Chinese elements in the TV series except for the Chinese.At the begining,The concept of Chinese culture is defined,Then Chinese food,mandarin andChinese Characters,Special Chinese objects will be analysed by Semiotic theory;The fifth chapter analyzes the frame of Chinese image constructed by “The Big Bang Theory”.The author analyzes it from the perspective of coding/decoding and the commercial attributes of film and television works.At last,I will talk bout my inspiration and reference.
