The Study Of The Frames In Political Discourse From The Perspective Of Conceptual Metaphor

Political discourse is an important form of political communication.It not only has powerful political and moral power,but also plays an important role in propagating national policy ideas and forming public opinion guidance.At present,the study of political discourse has become a specific type of discourse in linguistic research.Lakoff and Johnson put forward Conceptual Metaphor theory in the book of Metaphors We Live By,whose essence is to understand more abstract things with more specific things.On this basis,Lakoff expands the conceptual metaphor and creates the framing theory.The analysis of framing in cognitive linguistics is a new perspective of political discourse research,which helps us to better analyze political discourse from the cognitive level,but few scholars have studied discourse in Chinese political discourse based on this perspective.This study is based on the combination of conceptual metaphor and framing theory.It uses the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods and selects the political discourse in the Chinese Government Work Reports from 2015 to 2019 as the corpus.Identifying the metaphor keywords in the text by the metaphor recognition method proposed by Charteris-Black,then use the corpus software AntConc 3.4.1 to retrieve and classify the frequency of various metaphor expressions.With the activation of conceptual metaphors,it can identify the metaphorical surface frames in political discourse,and the deep frame is further inferred,that is,the deep reason and the underlying values of this type of surface frame.The research results can be presented as the following three points:Firstly,Chinese Government Work Reports in the past five years has been rich in metaphors.Secondly,the metaphors of the discourse in Chinese political discourse and the construction of frame also have their own characteristics,such as the use of operation frame,architecture frame and green frame and so on.The underlying reasons for the emergence of such frames are that Chinese political discourses are mostly built on Chinese history,culture,and ethics.Finally,the study finds that the values contained in the deep frame include the values of ecologism,collectivism,fighting spirit and so onThe combination of conceptual metaphor and framing theory provides a new perspective for the study of political discourse analysis,and enriches the application of framing theory Frame provides a framework for our logical thinking and reasoning.Different frames and conceptual metaphors can reflect and strengthen their implicit values and ideologies.
