Conceptual Metaphor And Corresponding Interpretation Strategies

Chinese Government Work Report is issued annually by the Premier of the StateCouncil on the National People’s Congress, which is not only the review and summaryof the work accomplished in the past year but also the deployment and arrangement oftasks in the coming year. In order to effectively transmit the value of the party, it isnecessary for speakers to transfer the abstract political concepts in a concrete andeasily understandable manner. The application of conceptual metaphor plays such arole in political exchanges. By means of textual analysis method, the author analyzedand summed up the categories and distributions of conceptual metaphor in2012and2013Chinese Government Work Reports such as construction metaphors, organismmetaphors and stuff metaphors and so on. In addition, based on the interpretation ofChinese Government Work Report accomplished by Zhang Lu, the author sorted outconcrete conceptual metaphor interpretation methods such as literal translation, liberaltranslation and omission and so on to guide the conceptual metaphor interpretation inother political discourses.
