The accordion was invented in the 18 th century. After nearly three hundred years of development,it still belongs to the constantly developing keyboard instrument.Accordion performances are mostly composed by composers from Russia,Western Europe and South America. In China, early accordion players mostly used keyboard accordions and their performances were relatively single. With the academic and professional development of the accordion,China began to introduce free bass accordion and keyboard accordion(Bayan),which has led to a rapid expansion of the playing works' style, and lots of transplanted works have appeared, for example: Scarlatti,Bach's polyphonic works, classic orchestral works, transplanted works from organ and so on.By transplanting and presenting classic works of other instruments, the accordion performances have been more diversified and the performance forms have been enriched."Gothic Suite" was written for the organ by French composer Léon Bollmann. The author has studied this work's Bayan solo version during her undergraduate period, and she has made the debut of the work's quintet version in China during her postgraduate period. She has rich practical experience in performance of this work.In this thesis, the solo and quintet versions of the GS's performance characteristics have been described, and the two versions of the performance processing have been explored. This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part discusses the artistic features of composer Léon Bollmann and his work "Gothic Suite",and "Gothic Suite" has been used as an example to summarize the organizing methods of Bayan work's transplantation from organ. The second part mainly explains the important performance techniques involved in the four movements of the work.In the third part, the solo version and the quintet version of Goth Suite are explored in terms of performance processing, and the two performance versions are summarized from the author's own perspective. The significance of this thesis' research lies in depth study of the similarities and differences in the performance techniques of organ performances in different performance forms, deepening the understanding of Bayan quintet's performance processing, tone, teamwork, etc. In addition, the author hopes that this thesis can attract more outstanding composers to create more and better original works of the solo and ensemble version of the accordion.
