Alignment is an important mechanism in dialogue and interaction and is also the key to second language acquisition. The continuation task is a new type of writing type proposed on this basis.A typical continuation task is to arrange the learner to read an article in the target language without an end,and then complete the end of the article. Its purpose is to closely combine the learner's language understanding and output,so it can generate alignment and promote language learning. This study aims to study the impact of the continuation task on the fluency, accuracy, and complexity of Chinese English learners' writing language. This research was carried out at a university in the Northwest as an example. And 42 junior English major students were invited to take part in this writing test. Each student completed a proposition writing and a continuation task respectively, thus making a comparative study. After the writing test,42 students were invited to take part in the questionnaire. The experimental data were analyzed by SPSS on fluency, accuracy, and complexity of writing. The results show that the fluency and accuracy of the students' writing of the continuation task are significantly better than that of proposition writing, while the language complexity is not significantly improved.Through the research results and questionnaires,it is found that there is an alignment effect in reading and writing. This study has the following inspirations: firstly, teachers can choose appropriate continuation task materials, which can effectively improve students' English writing level; At the same time, students are encouraged to read more and input more languages, thus improving the level of language output.
