Man Ray And Surrealism

This paper attempts to analyze and discuss the inheritance relationship between the pioneer photographer Man Ray and Dada movement and surrealism,and to explore the themes of "sex","unconsciousness" and "automation" in Man Ray's works by restoring the historical background of the emergence of surrealism,and to reexamine the use of surrealistic artistic language in Man Ray's works.Man Ray is famous for his photography works in the art world.He is not limited to photography as an expression form.Looking back on Man Ray's life,we can see the continuous development of art exploration activities.For him,any media language and expression form is just a channel leading to the unknown field of art.This multi habitat artist not only plays an important role in the history of photography,but also through Painting,sculpture,installation,film and other art forms make him leave an important page in the art history.Most surrealist artists in the same period with man are just political appendages,but he left us more artistic style and language.He has never been a prisoner of the earth,nor belongs to any particular faction,no matter surrealism or other schools,which is the way and tool for man ray to explore art.
