"The True Colors of the Officialdom" is the first long-series novel in Chinese modern times that has been serialized in the newspapers and achieved a social sensational effect.It has a high corpus value.This article selects the monosyllabic hand verbs of "The True Colors of the Officialdom"(the verbs involving hand movements with "?(?)" as the research object,combining synchronic description and diachronic evolution from semantics,syntax and history Research on the evolution and other angles,in order to have a deeper understanding of the diachronic evolution of hand verbs.There are four main issues discussed:1.Classification problem.There are a total of 123 hand verbs in "The True Colors of the Officialdom",which can be divided into two categories: freehand and non-freehand.Freehand hand verbs are further divided into pressing,throwing,pushing and pulling,holding,placing,cuddling,acquiring,capturing,shaking,and uncovering categories;non-handed verbs are Wipes,blows,etc.And take pressing,throwing,and wiping as examples to explain the reasons for the difference in the frequency of hand verbs.2.Word meaning analysis.The concept element analysis method is used to analyze in detail the meaning of hand verbs in "The True Colors of the Officialdom".First generalize the conceptual elements such as [force application part] [forced object][object identity] [placement position] [direction] [method] [strength] [distance] [tool][purpose(sex)] [result],etc.Analyze the semantic structure of various hand verbs one by one,and compare the similarities and differences of each subcategory.3.Syntactic function analysis.The hand verbs in "The True Colors of the Officialdom" are rarely used as predicates alone.They are mostly used as predicates in complex predicate sentences and also as non-predicate components in sentences,such as subject,object,attributive,adverbial and complement.4.Inheritance and evolution over time.Some of the hand verbs in "The True Colors of the Officialdom" show a tendency to evolve towards oral verbs,speechverbs and psychological verbs.Under the metaphor and metonymy mechanism,hand verbs are affected by the internal and external motivations of the language,and the meaning of the word has undergone various evolutions.On this basis,the hand verbs in the five special books in different periods are further compared,and the diachronic inheritance and extinction of hand verbs are discussed.
