By combing through the history of western art,the author starts from the classicism art,to the art style associated with classicism in the same period,to the neoclassicism art.First,in classical art, rationalism serves as the ideological basis, especially in the cartesian philosophy of rationalism in France, which influences the expression style of classical art.Classical art, with a rational paradigm, shows the precise proportion and harmonious composition in the paintings, and shows the emphasis on the imperial power and the restoration of the characters in the architectural design. The classical art represents the balance between rationality and sensibility in the works, which balances the inner sensibility in the way of rational depiction of reality.Secondly,in the contemporaneously artistic style associated with classical art, baroque art is different from classical art in terms of region, service object and form of expression, which is an artistic style between rationality and passion.Rococo's art embodies the sense of intimacy in the redesign of everyday objects, and removes the sense of solemnity of classical art by means of permeating with a sense of festivity. It is an art style combining with aesthetic life. The romantic art reflects the overflow of the spirit, realizes the ideal of sensibility with the subjective feeling, and breaks the balance of rationality and sensibility of the classical art. Finally, the style of neoclassical art restoring ancient ways again and the description of many historical subjects reflect the contemporary nature of classicism in the 18 th century.Due to the restraint of sensibility and the pursuit of imagery, neoclassical art has become a limitation, and the artistic style stays in the construction of imagery. However, the role of enlightenment in artistic works makes neoclassical art surpass classical art and become a representational style.
