In response to the call of bring in and go out,a tremendous number of texts containing Chinese Plans and Chinese Wisdom are pending to be globally welcome and accepted, with lots of which written poetically and philosophically. To achieve such poetic and lyrical expression as well as reinforce the persuasiveness, parallel structure,a balance within one or more sentences,is always introduced, with New Analects being no exception.Based on the translation practice of New Analects, this paper focuses on the analysis of the parallel structures in the source text and their corresponding translation strategies,so that new aspects for the translation of parallel structures in compound texts can be discussed. With the function of text considered, this report classifies parallel structures into phonological parallelism, lexical parallelism, phrasal parallelism, syntactical parallelism, and discourse parallelism, through which the optimum strategies for different context can be specified. The main difficulties encountered in this translation practice are the priorities of the content and form within parallel structures, the functional choices of compound texts, and the translation strategies of untranslatable elements. It is found that to sort out the priority of the content and form within parallel structures, preanalyzing the source text is a more responsible and efficient way to convey the author's intentions, which is particularly helpful while guiding the translation of parallel structures in compound texts. The traditional classification methods that examine source texts in different pattern scales can be used to improve the details of questions and ensure the completeness of the transmission of parallel structures after completing the function-oriented analysis.Aiming at phonological parallelism, translators can adopt form transformation, abstraction,or free translation of specific nouns to form the alliteration or assonance of the target text. For lexical and phrasal parallelism, the translator should prioritize the accuracy and parallelism of notional words and the use of conjunctions to complete the correlation between parallel items. As for the syntactical and discourse parallelism, the translator can integrate closely related clauses when parallel terms and function words are redundant.Besides, based on text functions, the strategy for untranslatable elements in a text should also be choices between juxtaposition, transliteration, free translation, generalization, and interpretation.None of the above choices can be realized without the translator's understanding of the original author's core of thought and purpose of the texts. Therefore, only when sufficient preparations are made before translation,an active reference to existing excellent translations of the parallel texts are taken into consideration, and the cultural gaps between readers are fully aware of,can translators promote Chinese wisdom with both form and spirit.
