This report is built on the ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning)localization project of Nanchang branch of OPPO.In recent years, the Nanchang branch of OPPO has implemented the enterprise globalization strategy and successively carried out business in Indonesia, the Philippines and many other countries. Both the enterprise management and communication are all dependent on its ERP system.During my internship as a translator in the summer of2019,I was assigned by the company to undertake the translation project of the ERP system. The ERP system involves many parts of enterprise management, such as operation, finance, human resource, marketing information,after-sales service, technical support, etc. The project requires the translation to be concise, clear, accurate and adaptable for local employees in the destination country. This report starts with a brief description of the characteristics, requirements and significance of the translation project. In addition, the report briefly introduces the ERP system and the translator's work.Next comes to the case analysis of translation. The analysis of specific examples reflects how Skopos theory guides the translation process and how the translator completes the translation project on the premise of taking into consideration the characteristics of localization.Third, the report deals with the process of two-way proofreading between the translator and the client,as well as the problems discovered with the corresponding solutions. Finally, the author makes a summary about the project. After the translation project, the author found that the following points are worth noting in ERP system localization: first, the translator has to comprehend what is localization. For example, the translation of technical terms should conform to normalization, without any need for interpretation or annotation.Secondly, translation is linked,as a language service,in a localization project.Translators should pay serious attention to language adaptation and customer experience, and cultural adaption.Thirdly, different ERP systems with discrete service objects have their own characteristics and pertinence in terms of wording. In translation, translators should fully comprehend the features of ERP language words, sentences and texts,so as to enable ERP system users to achieve the purpose of communication. In conclusion, this report is intended to add some value to ERP system translation or related fields.
