From the perspective of Skopos Theory, this thesis studies the case of Don 't starve and puts forward strategies and methods for translation according to types and functions of game text,on the basis of a survey for game players.First, localization should attach importance to game players and meet their potential demands by learning features of gamers.Second, given that most game text is informative text, liberal translation is suggested and the translation should be clear and concise;foreignization should be adopted as an important strategy according to game players' foreign language proficiency and acceptance of the foreign culture.Third, the localization project should give translators enough time to know about the game;participation of game players or game developers in proofreading is suggested.Forth, the game service providers should cooperate with translators to write articles about the cultural backgrounds upon game publishing,in order to make up the loss of cultural issues during translation.
