With the rapid development of high-tech in the world,high-quality engineering and technical personnel play a key role in economic development. In recent years, the accreditation work for certified engineers with Chinese characteristics has gradually commenced, but a relatively mature and professional accreditation system for engineers has not yet formed.Throughout the world, the accreditation system of UK engineers is relatively sound, and has accumulated rich experience. To study the system can provide reference for the establishment of the Chinese accreditation system. Therefore, the author together with other students was entrusted by the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of Tianjin University to organize and translate the contents of the ECUK and related institutions' websites to form a formal research report. The text of this translation practice report is based on the contents of ECUK and related institutions' websites. The text includes the information of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institution of Lighting Professionals and the Institute of Measurement and Control. The text's main purpose is to convey information, and the structure is logical,so the text can be classified as informative text. The purpose of this translation practice is to comprehensively and systematically grasp and present the professional management and accreditation system of British engineers through studying the professional management of its system,so we can provide reference and guidance for the establishment of professional management and accreditation system of engineers in China. This translation practice has strong purpose,so the author chose Vermeer's Skopos theory as the guiding theory, trying to obtain a smooth and fluent translation that meets the purpose of the translation practice, while ensuring the accuracy of information transmission. This translation report is divided into four parts. The first part is the description of the translation report. It briefly introduces the background of the translation task and the text. The second part describes the process of translation. It mainly introduces the pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation proofreading. The third part is the translation case analysis, which is the core of the whole report.Inthis part, the author first introduces the German functionalist school and the guiding theory of this translation report-Skopos theory, and points out the applicability of Skopos theory to this translation text.Skopos theory gives the translator more freedom,so that the translator can provide the target readers with a readable translation that is consistent with their reading habits according to the translation purpose.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, this translation report is carried out from three aspects: vocabulary, sentence and discourse of the text, and the author cited examples to summarize the translation methods and strategies used in this practice. The fourth part summarizes the translation practice. The author summarizes the gains and shortcomings of this translation practice.
