Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)refers to the enterprises should improve company profits and be legally responsible for their shareholders and employees while also being socially accountable to consumers,communities and the environment.It emphasizes the importance of human values in the production process and its contribution to the environment,consumers and society.In this context,the CSR report has emerged as an instrument to help companies implement corporate social responsibility.Corporate Social Responsibility Report is the text that reports corporate progress in their operation philosophies,strategies,and models,in addition to their direct or indirect impacts on economy,environment and society to the general public.In today's international business environment,Corporate Social Responsibility Reports written in different languages that need to be translated.Taking the English--Chinese translation of Apple's Corporate Social Responsibility Report in 2019 as an example,this thesis discusses three problems during the translation of a CSR report: the interpretation of characteristic words(phrases)(divided into enterprise characteristics,social-hot spots and international organization names): the translation of long sentences with complex structure and large amount of information;the translation of chapter titles;Language Thought Contrasts between English and Chinese.In view of the above difficulties,the thesis proposes three strategies: pay attention to the interpretation of characteristic words(phrases)based on the needs of the context,split and reorganize the sentence patterns,sort out the information and reasonably adopt translation strategies;transform the angle of view,such as the abstract thinking and concrete thinking;the local thinking and overall thinking;the cognitive habits and language habits.This thesis studies the three strategies and draws a preliminary conclusion: First,the interpretation of characteristic words(phrases)should refer to large amount of parallel text,including the style and background of the context.Second,for long sentences with large information load and complex structure,translators should break down the structure and then clarify the internal logical connections and use translation strategies reasonably.Third pay attention to the differences between Chinese and Western cognition and language habits,and transform the perspective of translation when necessary,so as to accurately and objectively convey the original information and ideas,and at the same time bring readers a better reading experience.It is expected to provide practical reference for translating similar CSR texts.
